There are some pieces of work I have delivered which don't neatly fall under a single banner and involve some facilitation such as:
- these are events where people come together and share information so that others can learn. It works particularly well for medium sized organisations where departments want to share information with each other. This might include sharing departmental: successes, objectives, processes, etc. Design can be as creative or as traditional as you want. These events can be incredible involving and have a positive organisational impact by increasing co-operation, commitment and understanding.
Open space events
are very adaptable and scalable to meet organisational needs. While formats can vary considerably there are some common themes. There is no agenda; it is created on the day. Attendees have the opportunity to pitch the subject they want to discuss. This could be almost anything that is relevant such as a problem, challenge, idea, strategy etc. The people attending choose which session they want to participate in. This leads to the issues that are most important to people getting discussed by those with the greatest interest which leads to high levels of engagement.
World Cafe events
are more structured than open space events. The most significant difference is a lack of choice. At world cafe events there is a short presentation on the topic/issue under consideration. Participants then break into table discussion groups which are facilitated and outputs recorded and followed up.
may require significant investment and can have a substantial return on that investment in terms of commitment, loyalty, focus and motivation. They can be annual or designed around a central theme or significant event.
around a specific subject or initiative such as the launch of: a new strategy, product, organisational values etc. These could be organised geographically, departmentally or functionally depending on the size of the organisation, desired outputs and outcomes.
These types of events often use the latest technology to capture information and undertake real-time analysis.
