Coaching to improve performance
I have a successful track record of providing coaching to managers in the public, private and not for profit sectors. I have helped a number of senior managers and newly promoted managers improve their performance and maximise their potential.
I tend to use a relaxed, informal and conversational style to help coaching clients become better leaders and managers. In essence I create a safe space to think! By asking questions I can encourage, challenge, raise awareness and focus people on those areas in which they want to or need to improve and succeed. When appropriate I use a range of approaches and techniques such as visualisation, scaling, perceptual positions (to name a few) to explore situations and possibilities.
As a qualified Strength Deployment Inventory® facilitator I sometimes suggest using the SDI® to help individuals understand and create more effective relationships especially where conflict exists. For more information please click on the link.
The majority of one-to-one coaching work has evolved from training programmes I have delivered. I am also an associate coach for the National Housing Federation.
A typical one-to-one coaching initiative looks something like this.
- Discuss purpose and expectations
- Clarify process, approach and style
- Agree feasibility
- Agree logistics
- Clarify confidentiality
- Set objectives
- Three or more coaching sessions
- Summary of key points
- Review of progress against objectives
- Evaluation of coaching
